Spring Budget 2023.


On the 15th March 2023 Jeremy Hunt the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a number of changes to the childcare system.


30 hours for all


A rollout of 30 hours of funded childcare for all children from 9+ months old.


When will it happen?

  • April 2024 - All 2 year olds to receive 15 hours.
  • Sept 2024 - All children 9+ months old to receive 15 hours.
  • Sept 2025 - All children to receive 30 hours

Universal Credit


The childcare element of Universal Credit is set to be paid upfront, helping parents to access childcare without fear of high advance payments to providers.


The 85% of childcare fees paid for by Universal Credit due to rise from £646.00 per month to £951.00 per month for one child, and from £1108.00 per month to £1630.00 per month for two children. Check your entitlement here.


Tax Free Childcare


No announcements were made regarding Tax Free Childcare, it is noted however that only 30% of eligible parents are using the system, which can save parents 20% on fees. Check your entitlement here.
